Just off the main road, Green Park Lodge is as its name refers, a spot of tranquillity and beauty within a bustling metropolis. This 48 roomed lodge is divided into 2 properties, namely 3 and 15 Park Rd, Green Park Lodge and Green Park Annex. Our beautiful gardens, well manicured lawns and the resulting bird life makes Green Park Lodge a restful sanctuary, easy to forget the sprawling city of Mthatha that surrounds us.
Green Park Lodge was opened in April 2006 and is aimed at the discerning traveller who requires more than what a standard B&B establishment or guesthouse would offer.
We offer free wireless internet, so after your stressful day; you can relax in the garden, lounge or around the spa pool and wrap up your day in peace and comfort.

Each room is fitted with a queen size bed (11 sharing rooms between the 2 properties) and each bed is dressed in a luxury duvet and pillows. Spare blankets are also provided.
- There is also a choice of an aircon or non aircon rooms
- All rooms are available with DSTV, microwave, wifi, aircon (some) tea tray, fridge, exra blankets, electric blankets, free onsite parking, night watchman for each property

We offer a full English breakfast from 6:30am – 9:00am, cooked to order, and breakfast packs are available for the early traveller.
Lunches and Lunch pack available to order.
Dinner is available from 6 pm – 8:30 pm with the option of sit-in or deliver to your room.

We booked for a week for business. What an absolute pleasure. From room service, the ambiance and meal preparations. Meals are specially prepared on demand and for your special dietary needs (I had scrumptious vegetarian meals prepared specially for me everyday). 3 Nights business trip. Staff was extremely friendly, owner very polite and friendly and made me feel "at home". Room was clean, bed was comfortable. Wifi a bit unstable at times. TV and aircon in room. Breakfast was great and dinner was excellent. Portions are huge (to say the least). Dinner was brought to my room, which was great. All round a very pleasant stay!
It was a wonderful experience. The staff is so helpful and friendly. The place is super clean and its got everything one needs including amazing meals at very good prices. We had yum oxtail as good as my mothers. And I had really excellent peri chicken. I felt welcomed and they treated me like the queen i most certainly wasn't. Really the best place I have stayed in, in a very very long time. Oh and the bed slept so well.
Green Park has been a breath taking stay ticking all the boxes of comfort from their affordable and nutritional meals which is both an above average portion and a value for money 🤑. The rooms that are separate in catering and self catering set up are once again a value for money with enough private air conditioning rooms and parking to accommodate 40plus individuals. Clean bedding and an added electrical blanket made the cold days not a issue. I would highly recommend it as a first to stay at as it is located within walking distances from amenities.
For more than 15 years, Green Park Lodge has been my preferred place to stay in Mthatha—and for good reason. Its central location puts restaurants, shops and filling stations within easy reach, while convenient access to the main roads makes getting around simple. Set in a busy, well-connected area with plenty of activity, the lodge also offers a reassuring sense of security. What truly stands out, however, is the warm, friendly service: the staff are always willing to assist and go out of their way to make guests feel comfortable. For added convenience, guests can order supper from the kitchen or enjoy the fully equipped braai facilities. Whether you are visiting for business or leisure, Green Park Lodge offers comfort, convenience and welcoming hospitality in the heart of Mthatha.
Two months ago my son fell ill while in Mthatha. Having lost his accommodation, Green Park Lodge was able to accommodate him at very short notice. When his health deteriorated further Selina and Mo ensured he was able to get to the doctor then onto the hospital for the care he needed. A few weeks later when I came to Mthatha to sort out my son’s effects and see him in hospital, they were most kind and understanding. They went out of their way to assist in what was a very difficult time, including, amongst other things, getting his car working again, getting provisions to my son while in hospital, and insuring he had something that he could eat given his condition. A special thanks to Selina, Mo and their respective staff for their support and kindness and for just being amazing people.
